Hello,

The effects of the recession even on the construction industry are complex. A visible reluctance to purchase new machinery is the cause of a noticeable boom in the retrofit business – also for Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH. Economic considerations such as quick installation and low overall costs are significant factors for the process of investment decisions.

In Italy, for example, Hirschmann’s close partnership with retailers is paying off. The company is currently enjoying high growth rates in retrofitting load moment indication systems (LMIs) in cranes.

Hirschmann also has close business relations with Turkey. Beside the successful retrofit business, a number of promising discussions are currently under way with leading crane manufacturers.

Wireless sensors are also becoming increasingly important in the retrofit business. Why is this? Hirschmann reports on the latest developments in radio-based sensor technology.

And it’s nearly time again: from 19th to 25th April 2010 the international construction industry will be getting together at the bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany. Find out from us, whether this trade fair is heading for success again.

We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter.
